In 1978, Miuccia Prada began designing for the family business founded by her grandfather in 1913. Since taking the helm of the Italian brand, she has turned it from an accessories business into a fashion house, achieving international recognition for her radically innovative approach. Her intellectual style and sincere engagement with artistic creativity is explored through her fashion shows, collections and films. In 1993, she established the Fondazione Prada with her husband and business partner Patrizio Bertelli, intending to “analyse present times through the staging of contemporary art exhibitions”. Her work across the disciplines of both fashion and art has resulted in international awards and acclaim from both fields.
